What's around the local area

Being based in Leysdown means that our Warden Bay caravan park gives residents a great base from which to explore the Isle of Sheppey and everything it has to offer.

Aside from the local shops, restaurants, pubs and amusement arcades in Leysdown itself, there are also a number of activities and amenities elsewhere for you to enjoy. For example, why not visit the Elmley National Nature Reserve?

Renowned for stunning wildlife, Elmley National Nature Reserve is crammed full of heritage and history.

You’re highly likely to see birds of prey soaring through the skies, water birds wading in the ponds, hares bounding across the meadows, butterflies, bees and dragonflies, making it a fantastic photography spot too. Similarly, you can also explore the entire region and discover the house where King James II was imprisoned in 1968 and the marshes that inspired the famous Dickens novel, Great Expectations. There is  also the remnants of Queenborough Castle, a 14th century  castle built in the 14th Century.

From sandy beaches and bird-packed nature reserves to surfing spots at Minster Leas and great cycle trails that take you through the idyllic Sheppey countryside, there is something to please everyone when they stay at Warden Bay.

The County town of Maidstone is a 30 minute drive from the caravan park. Canterbury with its stunning Cathedral and myriad of shops and restaurants is also a 30 minute drive. For those wanting a shopping experience, Ashford has the designer outlet shopping centre Mcarthur Glen on the its outskirts.
